It’s an overview of the financial crisis from the perspective of the “Quants” or Quantitative Analysts, i.e. those who apply sophisticated mathematical techniques to financial investment. It does not claim that quants were the sole causes of the crisis, instead it highlights their roles and some of the impact of their work in creating financial vehicles, some of which “blew up” and added to the chaotic environment of the “meltdown”.
